Not fresh... That is one song that sould be banned from being covered for a good long while OVERDONE haha
although I am biased as I just saw Ozzy and Zakk do a mind blowing version live. Outstanding!

Not fresh... That is one song that sould be banned from being covered for a good long while OVERDONE haha Oh yeah, TOTALLY! Aside from "Paranoid" that has to be Sabbath's most oft covered song. My favorite cover version of it is probably the studio version by FAITH NO MORE from their The Real Thing cd. Jim Martin is obviously a Sabbath fan, because he nailed every single Iommi guitar nuance from the song for their cover. I also recently found an old live recording of Ronnie James Dio fronting THE ELVES (prior to the name being changed to just ELF) doing the song way back in 1971. Very cool and quite a foreshadowing of things to come, eh? - ghosts of athanasius wrote:

| I am *overtaken by jealousy* that you hit Ozzfest. I was looking forward to going, then they ran out of tickets the day before I was gonna get em.
(and since he's not here to say it himself ... OVERTAKEN BY JEALOUSY sounds like a lousy Seattle hardcore band)

| dood I don't want to rub it in but it was AMAZING. I flew to Denver to catch it. My wife and kids are in Montana for the summer and my oldest (10) is friends with The Showdown. They wanted him to sing with them here (Seattle-ish) but he was in MT. They said, "Can you do Denver"? so we weall went I flew in and it was great to see them again.
Most of the bands I didn't care for to be quite honest. But Showdown slayed and Michael did really really good on Breath of the Swamp. He was a big hit and not the slight bit nervous. Hatebreed was just absolutely killer and dang near the best of the non-Ozzy acts if not the best. Static X put on an amazing set. I appreciate them MUCH more now. Lamb of God.. I could appreciate the musicianship but not the vox and they just kinda of stood there. Everyone else on Mainstage before them put on great shows so it seemed to be a faux pas on their end. Lordi was hilarious and QUITE entertaining.
Then Ozzy ruled all. I was really surprised because he was really moving! I thought pushing 60 and all he would be more stoic. NOPE He pogoed the whole time he had the mic, He ran all over the stage, ran off stage grabbed buckets of water, ran back and dosed the crowd. He had a firehose he wailed on them with several times. He was totally animated. The band was unfreakin believable Zakk was ON FIRE. I actually really like Ozzy's latest and was disappointed he didn't play more off it. He played not going away which was amazing but I was hoping to hear I Don't Wanna Stop as well (it is his single!) But he opened the show with Bark At the Moon and actually played alot of old stuff.
What really blew me away was I guess after the show his leg was bothering him and he went to the Denver Hospital to have it looked at. That night they did emergency surgery as he had a blood clot! You would have never have known it. Then the next day he left the hospital flew to St Louis and DIDN'T miss a show!!!! The man is wild

Yes you do ... admit it Really though, I'm glad you got to see it. The fact that Ozzy was so animated may be because it was his last tour and he is truly trying to make it worth it for everybody. Truly, I am really upset about missing this show, I am such a huge Ozzy fan, and I've never seen him live. Whatever, though, I'll get over it. I am hoping and praying though that he goes back on it (like he did the last 3 time) and plays ANOTHER tour. Fat chance, though, I think he means it this time, what with the "Freefest" stuff n' all that. I also really wanted to see Behemoth and Nile again. Especially Nile. Behemoth is a little overbearing with the preachy evil-holier-than stuff. But Nile is frigging good at what they do!!

Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
See the "playlist" thread for details
I bought it to replace my CD-R that I've had of this one for years and years. This is such an incredible find to get used. It's in GREAT condition, and I only paid 7 bucks for it, it's nowadays one of the most obscure Burzum releases.
