| Saw these guys here in Phoenix last night. Great show! Machine Head was ok, Megadeth's set was great, but far shorter that usual since they were not headlining and H&H (aka Sabbath) sounded great and had an AWESOME looking stage setup! | |

| Saw Black Sabbath and Megadeth this past Saturday at the Journal Pavilion in Albuquerque. GREAT SHOW. Both bands were outstanding. Megadeth played a lot of older material from "Peace Sells..." and "Rust in Peace" which was a nice surprise. The band was tight, with a capitol "T". I banged my head quite a bit during their show. As I recall, this was the set list:
Megadeth
1. Sleepwalker 2. Take No Prisoners 3. Kick The Chair 4. Wake Up Dead 5. Hangar 18 6. Washington Is Next 7. Tornado Of Souls 8. Symphony of Destruction 9. Peace Sells 10. Holy Wars
Heaven & Hell (aka Black Sabbath w/ Dio) were also outstanding! Geezer is still the man. Dio commands the stage as always and Tony Iommi is amazing. I've seen Black Sabbath several times, including the "Born Again Tour" with Ian Gillan. This was actually the first time with Dio and I must say they were technically a lot better with Dio than they ever were with Ozzy. This could also be that there was none of the Ozzy material played. The entire set list consisted of Dio-era material. Every song was phenomenal. I know some people don't care for "Dehumanizer", but the songs from this album sounded just as great as the rest of the material. "I" was incredibly heavy!
The set was based around a castle. The band wasn't overly active, but there was enough going on with lighting effects and such to keep you're eyes busy while injesting the heavy music that was being played. One either side of the stage there were windows with crosses in them. Smoke would emerge from these windows with lights that looked a bit like rays of sunshine coming through. It was very cool effect. For each song there was something different happening on the stage. I can't explain it all. All I can say is, if you get the chance, don't miss this tour.
1. E5150 2. After All (The Dead) 3. The Mob Rules 4. Children of the sea 5. Lady Evil 6. I 7. The sign of the southern cross 8. Voodoo 9. The Devil’s Cried 10. Vinnie Appice drum solo 11. Computer God 12. Shadow of the Wind 13. Falling off the edge to the world 14. Die Young 15. Heaven and Hell 16. Neon Knight

| For the record, the guys in Machine Head need to buy a dictionary and learn a new word.
Unfortunately we were late and missed most of Machine Head's set, although we did catch the tail end. What we did hear wasn't bad, but their vocalist sounded like a moron. I don't understand what it is with modern bands thinking it's so cool to use the word "f**k" between every other word. They just sound like idiots because they can't form a sentence without using the same expletive 20x. Buy a dictionary. Learn a new adjective.
I'm not saying I am totally offended by the use of the word. It has it's place, I suppose, to make a point. Ted Nugent and Dee Snider use the word a lot to great success. But the way Machine Head used it on stage, they just sounded ridiculous.
I remember thinking the same thing when I saw the idiot from Superjoint Ritual at Ozzfest a couple years ago. "What's up you f**king f**kers..." Moron.
Megadeth and Black Sabbath put on great performances and I don't recall hearing that word used even once by either band. Hmmm...

| Yeah Phil and all his clones are te absolute worst at this. It makes you feel like you are in Jr High again, you know that time before people learn how to really cuss? LOL They do sound like idiots. It is pointless when it gets to that excess. The sentences don't make any sense. There is a local Seattle band like this, Hatefist. If you ever have the chance to see them don't. It is basically a guy who all his live wanted to be Phil Anselmo and then gets up on stage and plays dress up, makes himself look like a total idiot and wastes my time while I wait for the next band. | |

| Yeah, I can see that. An absurd amount of cursing is really uncalled for.
However, I realize some bands resort to that "stage banter" because I think sometimes, the bands think that is what the crowd wants to hear. And for the most part, metal fans do want that. So they cater to that.
You can call Phil Anslemo a "MORON" because of what you see on stage, but that doesn't mean that is who he is off-stage...

Had a similar experience seeing Fear Factory/Suffocation/Hypocrisy/Decapitated......poor kids in Decapitated..... they are YOUNG, they were jerking the curtain, and English is not their first language......well, this is a metal show, right? Literally every other word between songs was "f*ck" ...... And what's up with this board's filters? I wrote "eff-bomb" and it wrote the actual word the first time??
