| Anybody heard these guys? Early 70's semi-prog rock that reminded me a little bit of HAWKWIND. I was just checking out the s/t album from 1970 and I'm not much impressed at all. It seems like almost every track has long, drawn out sections with repetetive and boring rhythm parts featuring uninspired, sometimes out of tune, guitar and violin soloing. I have another one of their albums I need to check out, called Sea Shanties, but if that one doesn't deliver, they'll both probably end up on the dung heap. | |

| I've never heard S/T but I like Sea Shanties! Haven't listened to it in forever. From what I remember, it sort of goes in the super-psychedelic proto-doom pre-prog category (whatever that means)
I remember liking it fine, but I could be wrong. I'll try to dig it up later on tonight.

| Hey Randy! Have you checked out Sea Shanties yet??
I was going to offer -- if you don't end up liking one or both of those albums, I can offer to take em off your hands. Do you have the actual CD forms? Because I'd love to get those and I'd be willing to throw down some $$ if you're interested.

| I love the 1st album, it did impress me. More than the 2nd one, although it's also great work. | |

| I haven't been in the mood to check out Sea Shanties yet, so I have no opinion on that one at this time. I'm sure I'll hang on to these and give the s/t one another chance at a later date. Could be I was just in a foul mood when I checked out that one, who knows? @ dOOgIE: nah, they're just burns. | |

| Hello, I'm a new person. I've got both High Tide albums. The s/t is indeed lame as far as I'm concerned. Three long songs, almost completely instrumental if I remember. But give Sea Shanties a chance. I like it with reservations. It's really almost a perfect Doors/Hendrix hybrid. However the problem is that while there are some killer riffs; they almost never cycle them through again. It's interesting but frustrating that they refuse to hit a groove (or were too stoned to find one). HIGH Tide indeed. But when it's said and done Sea Shanties is a keeper for me. | |
