I think I want to hear that just for curiosity's sake.

I didn't know that was a cover. After listening to the one at the link you posted, I played the Spirit version from a link on the same page. I like the original better, but Alice definitely picked a cool and obscure song to cover.

BLUE CHEER - Summertime Blues
For some reason this has been an anthem of sorts for me lately, and their version is so friggin' heavy. Love it!

One really cool cover I heard recently is Blind Guardian doing Uriah Heep's "Wizard",they make the middle part a little heavier and it is a cool updating of the song IMHO,such a trend starting of power/prog bands covering Heep songs is definitely one I would be on board for !

"The Wizard" is such an awesome song! I got turned on to that one while I was DJ-ing on a college radio station in 1987. I had a caller who requested it and I played it for him even though I had never heard it...I've loved it ever since!
Today's Cover Song:
THE MEATMEN - "Hot Rails to Hell" (orig. by Blue Öyster Cult)
The Meatmen did a bunch of great covers though:
"Razamanazz" (orig. by NAZARETH) "Rebel Rowser" (orig. by SWEET) "Dance to the Music" (orig. by SLY & THE FAMILY STONE) "Space Truckin" (orig. by DEEP PURPLE) "In League With Satan" (orig. by VENOM) - which was HILLARIOUS! "Kill Ugly Naked" (orig. by THE OBSESSED)
But their Coup de Grace had to be:
"How Soon is Now" (orig. by THE SMITHS)
They took that song and made it SO METAL that it made me an instant fan! And the greatness of that cover was only made better by the fact that they also had a song called "Morrissey Must Die" on another album!
Not bad for a bunch of dumfuks who basically started out doing hardcore/comedy punk!
Addy Cap'n Caveman!!!
