| I was never a huge maiden fan myself. Sure, I owned quite a lot of their albums and singles throughout the years, but I never really liked much of their stuff after " somewhere in time" was released and haven't listened to them since 1986. my two fave IM albums | |

| I've always preferred the Di'anno years myself ( The Soundhouse Tapes, Iron Maiden, Killers, Maiden Japan) mainly because they were more of a street savvy metal band in the center of the NWOBHM movement back then and that was the first lineup I heard. But I have always been somewhat of a fan of the Bruce years too - and that appreciation has actually increased in recent months. The Number of the Beast (even though the occultic undertones of the title track used to bother me), Piece of Mind and Powerslave will always be my faves from the Bruce era, but I have also been checking out the post- Somewhere in Time stuff recently and have been finding some enjoyable surprises on those albums too. I recently completed the spine puzzle from the CM remastered releases, so that helped too. This EP was always one of my favorite album covers of theirs: I really liked the Dance of Death release too when it came out. Brave New World was also pretty cool, but I haven't heard the latest - A Matter of Life and Death. I also have never heard the albums from the Blaze years, and I know how much people tend to dislike them, but I plan on checking those out sometime soon also.

| I started with Powerslave.. and with the help of the spne puzzle, I've not collected all the re-issues. Out of hte prper studio album I've got all but the Blaze albums. I'm now trying to collect all the "First 10 Years" vinyl versions of the singles with the commentary by Nicko. I've only got Aces High/2 Minutes to Midnight so far... but I've won a few on ebay so they should be on there way here soon. | |

| Maiden bootlegs? Nope, not a one. I am VERY picky about who I collect bootlegs for. I mainly collect old Sabbath boots and a few special ones here and there that I have either been in attendance at the show, or that I owned growing up. The bootleg scene is just WAY too large and I don't have the time, energy or desire to delve into it too deeply. But if you want to get some Maiden boots, go to this link http://deeppurplehub.proboards31.com/index.cgi set up an account, read the rules and then you can download boots by just about ANYONE you want, including Maiden. | |

| I'm with doom... Number of the Beast is awesome all the way through! Hallowed Be Thy Name is an AMAZING song!! I had a classical voice teacher who actually used that song in my classes because he knew that I played in a metal band at the time... And Bruce is quite trained and correct in form and practice. | |

| Killers was the first Maiden proper release that I had heard. I had a school chum who owned a 12" vinyl copy of the 'women in uniform' single with a grand live version of, I believe, Running Free on the b-side. That was actually my first listen to Maiden. I have the s/t, Killers, Maiden Japan, NOTB, POM, Powerslave, Live After Death, and SIT on vinyl. Sadly my turntable is down and out, and I have not been able to listen to these in some time. I bought last year the "History Of Iron Maiden : Pt.1 The Early Years" double dvd which has become my most watch dvd in the last while. | |

| Killers is my fave! I still remember the first time I put the needle to the groove and heard that bass. I bought it because the cover was so wild and it was from england. A few months after that I saw them on that tour. It was Grim Reaper/ Iron Maiden/ UFO. Maiden stole the show. I saw the next 3 tours after that. Ultmetal and I drove to El Paso in 2003 to see them with Motorhead & Dio. Lemmy stole the show. | |

Yeah,IG, you look like you are as Iron Maiden as I am Sabbath,LOL! For me,my all time fave is Piece Of Mind.It was the first one I had ever heard and it was just fraekin amazing.I kept looking for heavier and heavier stuff and this kid in my neighborhood said he had heard that they were pretty heavy, so I bought the tape sound unheard and did not at all regret it.Imagine if you can,"Where Eagles Dare" being the first thing you ever heard by the band,it was just mind blowing,it was like there were guitars everywhere in my room.Sounds emanating from my speakers that I couldn't even imagine in my mind, the bass of Harris, flawless fluid leads(can you tell that I really like being a reviewer LOL)precise attacking drums, just awesome!Oh and lets not forget The Bruce ,absolute soaring vocals, definitely in my top twenty of great vox.

| Brucey should be in everyones top 20 great vocalists Starting with Where Eagles Dare would be a perfect introduction to Maiden, no doubt about that. I think my first introduction was The Beast of the Beast, which a friend lent me. I didn't really get into it too much at the time, as I only listened to it in the back ground and compared to the death metal album he'd also lent me, it didn't seem that interesting. The tale didn't end there thankfully, as I had another friend who was really into Maiden when he was younger, and we discused it over the dinner table one night. He mentioned that his all time favorite scream was in the song Rime of the Ancient Marriner, where Bruce screams out "AND DOWN COMES TO RAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!!!!! HAHAHAHhah". Considering I love that poem, and was developing a taste for metal, I decided that I was going to track down that album. PowerSlave was the first album that I owned, and my obsession started there. Since then I've tried to collect as many cassettes and vinyls of the band as I can. I don't have many cassettes, as I'm not looking arond ebay for them, but rather just if i notice them in second hand shops. My record collection is really starting to come together though. I've got all the albums on cd, but I've got about as many vinyls, which also includes singles and bootlegs. | |

| I read a while back about a device that was on the market that you can use to record vinyl onto cd.Of course right now its got a ridiculous price but it would really be cool that if sometime in the future it was affordable. There are a lot of old metal things like some old comps and stuff that will probably never be released on cd.It would be cool to make mix cds with or listen to previously vinyl only stuff in the car.Do you have any of the Maiden tribute cds,I have the Slave To Power and first Call To Irons,IMO,there is some good stuff on those. | |

| Yeah, I wouldn't midn being able to play some of my vinyls in the car. Even just on cassette (thats whats in our van) would be very cool.
I haven't managed to find any of the tribute albums for a decent price yet, but I'm still on the look out for them. I'd really like to get that one where everything was played on a piano. I can't remember the name of it though.

| Slave To The Power is definitely worth it,especially if you are a doom fan as well.It has Solace doing Another Life,Crowbar with Remember Tomorrow,Archie Bunker with John Perez on guitar doing Wrathchild and Las Cruces playing The Prisoner. If you want the whole line-up I'll post it.The strangest one on here, and probably on any Maiden tribute is a band called Hoyry Kone doing a rendition of The Trooper with horns, trombone and soprano sax it says in the list,it sounds ...strange. | |

Unlike many of the bands that receive string tributes, Maiden's music will probably actually come across pretty cool in that form, considering their compositional style.

Ok, ok, I was 17 I think when I picked it up. Sheesh. :doh2: It is strange how my favorite albums from many bands also end up being the albums that introduced me to the band ... which gives me a cool thread idea! I remember the first time I heard Deep Purple's Machine Head album. That one's always stuck with me. It was driging home from a friend's house after an all nighter I pulled with a buddy of mine .... it was a long night of music discussion and some ... uhh ... overindulgence, let's say ....
I remember thinking, "hey, I could see this becoming one of my favorite albums!" Lo and behold ...

| MAIDEN was the first real metal band I ever got into, and it was all down hill from there! 8) I really like the older albums. The first two with Di'Anno singing. Then everything up through Powerslave with Dickenson.. Actually the first album I heard was in '86 with Somewhere In Time, which reeled me in, then my friend played either Powerslave or Number Of The Beast (can't recall) and those records sealed the deal.. If you're into the Di'Anno era MAIDEN you should check out the first few albums by the band.. THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEGhttp://www.sloughfeg.com/I'd start with the album Twilight Of The Idols ! | |

I basically live close to the middle of nowhere, but there was talk of some western Canadian show(s); so maybe a roadtrip. I acyually saw Maiden multiple times in the eighties on the Beast, PoM, Powerslave, SIT. and 7SOA7S tours. Then, they no longer came to western Canada. The dvd should be killer either way.
