Anyone else pick this up? I did today, and I'm glad I did, even if I already had the first 3 live discs.

I got it used, so it was only 22 bucks, and I really wanted the Millenium concert, which was originally supposed to be Alive 4. Plus the box is cool...the book contains all the original liner notes from the albums, plus tons of extra photo's that weren't used on the original issues, and lots of commentary from all the band members (including Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer, which is cool), roadies, photographers, Bill Acouin, etc.

Haven't listened to the Alive 4 disc yet, but I'm looking forward to hearing the Psycho Circus stuff live. I saw them in '96, '03, and '04, but missed this tour!

I heard a rumor that the Millennium concert (aka the original Alive IV) is supposed to see release on its own with bonus tracks. I'm waiting for that. Smile

Listened to it today...sounds great, with the exception of "Psycho Circus," which I was really bummed about.

You know how a guitar sounds on a recording when it has cheap pickups, and there's that high frequency noise that's not feedback, but just a general squelchiness? It's there constantly in Psycho Circus...at first I thought maybe the crowd noise was mixed too high, but it's something in the guitars. I tried changing the EQ and everything, but it was still there, and very distracting. Fortunately, it was only on the one track.

Yes! I hate that! It's all over the Ram it Down album by PRIEST. It sounds like they're playing through one of those Tom Scholz Rockmans! I hate that sound!

Yes! That's exactly what I'm talking about!!!

Course, it's not nearly as distracting as knowing the real meaning of Ram It Down after Rob came out of the closet!

Ugh, RAM IT DOWN. That was the first Priest album I bought..
yeah, yeah, I was Johnny B. Goode come lately. But I remember that same
day I bought my first King Diamond tape.. "THEM". I'll take THEM over RAM IT
DOWN anyday.. Laughing

My uncle took me to see them on that tour and it was my first time seeing Priest
live!! THEY RULED! and to this day, it is the LOUDEST concert I've
ever been to. Oddly enough, I haven't seen Priest since. Guess who
opened up?! Cinderella!! I liked them though..

but, look what they followed RAM IT DOWN with.. PAINKILLER !!! Afraid

Talk about a complete 360! That more than made up for RAM IT DOWN!

Interesting story about King Diamond. I was gonna go see that tour and
for whatever reason, I didn't get to go. But that same night, a kid was
murdered at the show. He was stabbed to death, IN THE CROWD!

Armored Saint opened up and it happend during their set. From what
I heard about the show, Armored Saint were actually pissed off (!!!) that
their set got interupted and where complaining about it on stage!!!
WTF?!

Then when King Diamond (a satanist) came on stage he immediately said
something like "No matter what faith you follow, a person lost his life
tonight and this is a complete tradegy. Please let us have a moment of silence
for this person.."

Needless to say, my respect for King increased dramatically, and my
respect for Jon Bush (who supposedly was the one complaining and
being indifferent) dramatically decreased..

King Diamond was banned from that venue for years, until the ownership
changed..

Interesting story, Judah - that totally sucks about the kid getting killed though. Frown King's an interesting person. I was a big fan of MFATE back in the day. I never really got into his solo stuff though. Rasta-like <- look who's back!

But back to the original topic: I'm actually one of the few who really likes Ram it Down (minus "Johnny B. Goode" that is. YUCK!) I like Turbo too. I love everything PRIEST has ever done. It's the SOUND for me. :listen:
