| People, maybe even friends, rave and rave about this band, you buy and they SUCK. Even worse, you have a totally nice guy, who you get along with and his stuff just blows! I have had many great experiences with indie artists, friends bands, etc. But there are some local guys whose music, musicianship, etc just blow. But so many of my friends love the band because of the great guys behind it. So I am in the awkward position of loving the sinner but loathing his sin (i.e. attempt at music!) To make it worse there are regular occasions where the subject is brought up and I don't want to break any hearts but I haven't bought the cd, can't endure listening to them, etc. Really too bad too. Why can't the nice guys also have talent? | |

| I think that if they're friends you just try to find some positive thing that they have going on... At least that's what all my friends do to me! :doh2: | |

Why can't the nice guys also have talent? I've had that problem a number of times. I find this most with metal bands... People find out you're into metal and they assume that if it's metal you'll like it. I've got a friend up here in Flagstaff who's part of a local Soulfly/Hatebreed type band ... and I really can't enjoy the music at all. I've got the free demo n' stuff ... but the rest I'm not planning to pay for. I hate feeling "pressured" to get some local band's album, though. Definetely not the only time this has happened to me either.

Are you talking about me? OF COURSE NOT!!!!!!!!!! Notice I said LOCAL... In all sincerity, I totally dig your stuff Randy. I think it is great. And I really mean that. You should know because I waited quite a while to order the first cd. After numerous listens on Myspace I really liked the songs and knew it was a keeper. I also really like the stuff of Sombrant's I have heard. But while we are on the subject... There are a few bands/projects from certain other boards that are just horrendous to me. I can't find the redeeming part. There are two other bands that I can think of whose music I dig but the vocals suck. What to do, what to do? And no I don't mean Transfigural Form either! The Pope is DOPE!

| Also, part of it is the genre
I just think black/unblack metal sucks. I am beyond picky when it comes to death vox, and so on and so forth
So it is rough when people rave about this band or that and I am just like, even for what that is supposed to be, it just isn't that good....
