More Niceboard stupidity...

I typed in a LONG message and hit send and it said I needed to log-in, well I was already
logged in. So, I hit the back button to retrieve my message.. GONE!! However, I wasn't
even logged in 15 minutes! I know some boards will automatically log you after a certain
period of time, but usually that time-frame is like after an hour or more. Sooo, what is
the time frame here ?!



Another problem was, after this incident, it logged all the new messages as "read", so
when I logged back, there were no new posts!! ARRRRGGGHHH! Now with other
message board software, in your profile you can set this yourself, if you log out..
do you want the messages to all be marked as read, or not. So, I goto my profile to
see if I can set this. NOPE.



So far, the niceboard experiece has been anything BUT nice. More like Hassle-Board.
I know it seems like I've been bitching alot, but the only reason is because it's
really frustrating. Especially compared to Ezboard and other BB software I've
used..

to your moderators, can you set these things in YOUR profile?!


Oh yeah, I just previewed my message, and it gladly inserted a blank line between every
line I typed!! THANKS! This has happend before as well, but randomly, like the emoticon
thing..

I had the blank like thing happen once but that was because I copied and pasted some Sabbath lyrics. So far so I have had any problems really.

OK, I think I solved the "edit" problem for members. Let me know if you can edit and delete your own posts now. (Also let me know if you are able to edit and delete others' posts, because that's not how it should be.)

@ Judah: when you post emoticons, are you typing in code or are you selecting from the list? Try selecting from the list exclusively instead of typing in code and see if that makes a difference.

I am also having trouble posting pics in some threads. Still trying to figure that one out...

Have you talked to ULT or KMORG about their Heart Of Metal BBS? They are
on niceboard as well. I wonder if their having the same problems?!

WIth pics, make sure they are at the END of your post after all the text and code. I've found that seems to work.

OK, I changed a bunch of settings today. Problem is, I'm not COMPLETELY sure what all of them do. So, I need you help to let me know what is working or not working and also what problems have either been resolved or created.

Yeah, I love THE CAVE. That's the only reason I want
everything to work. It does seem like it's hoppin' pretty moreso
than in the past, which is cool!

So, I re-typed in the big long message that originally got lost because
the cave decided to log me out randomly for no reason..

Guess what?

IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING!!!!!!!!!

1. Judah did not copy his post before Sending.
2. Judah did not make use of the "Preview" button before Sending.

1. Judah should not have to copy his message to the clipboard
for insurance purposes..

2. Judah ALWAYS uses the "preview" feature in order to see
which emoticons will not show up. In this case, once I
hit the preview button, niceboard tells me I need to log
in..

If Judah does not want to lose long posts, and knowing the quirks of niceboard, Judah might want to reconsider his snotty stance on copying them to the clipboard!

I CAN'T! The stupid little icon's used for cut and paste
don't do anything! I can't even "right-click" copy and paste.
It's like this editor from hell disables it!


btw, wasn't there a different editor when the new cave
started? Because I remember a different editor and I didn't
have any problems with it, and this new one came along and
the gates of hades was released upon me.. haha

Can't you just highlight and 'ctrl C' to copy?

If you look in the uppermost right hand corner of the quick reply editor box, you can switch back and forth between two different editors. If that doesn't help, I'll see if I can change one of the settings for the editor and see what that does.

Yeah, clicking on that has restored my cut and paste !!

Maybe it will help out with the other problems as well ?!
