Has anyone else heard it yet?

The only thing that sounds like Queen is the occasional classic tone that Brian May is known for (not often enough though) and some of the bgv's. Honestly, it doesn't sound like Queen at all... It's like Giant got back together and borrowed Queen's bgv's for a few songs. This is ok I guess... But many, many people will buy this hoping for a Queen record and be quite disappointed

I know it's not fair to compare Paul Rodgers to Freddie Mercury, but it is after all Queen who chose to continue using the band name. So I think those comparisons will happen. It's also probably not fair that I'm not a big fan of Paul's vocals in general anyway... I think they could've done MUCH better.

I've only heard one song but I really liked it. I knew it would sound different without Freddie, I also expected it to sound pretty straight-forward rockin' considering Paul Rodgers is on board. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest.

I love Queen, Freddie Mercury was a genius...but I really miss hearing this band, I'm glad they decided to continue on.

See that is precisely why I shyed away. I think it should have been another project. I knew Rogers was not Freddie.. nor should he be. And while I am sighing huge waves of relief that they didn't go with that ass pirate George Michael whom I despise... I just think this should have been another project name ala Velvet Revolver

Queen was one of those bands where every member wrote at least 1 hit song, where Brian May and Roger Taylor usually had at least one vocal performance a piece on their earlier albums...and collaboration was always the key. So I picture Queen as more than "just" Freddie Mercury and his backup band.

Of course it is being billed as "Queen with Paul Rodgers", so even they are offering that caveat.

It's still not as bad as "Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi"

Of course all of this is just my personal take on it, I can totally understand why people would feel otherwise.

I agree... and it's not that Queen was Freddie for me.. it is just that he was such a vital ingredient to the Queen recipe. He was always in the mix if for no other reason than he was primary vocalist.

I guess for me it's like this. If I made a really good lasagna but didn't have all the ingredients so I made good enchiladas... I wouldn't put them on the table and call it my lasagna

I've listened to it twice, and saying it's awful would be an understatement. I've watched my DVD of a 1981 show after that, and there's no comparison. There's Queen just in name, just like there was only the name Genesis in the band after Gabriel and Hackett left. They shouldn't have used the name Queen, and not only because of Freddie but also because of Roger Deacon being not in the band anymore.
