Electric Wizard was a band that I had checked out a few years ago and they didn't really click with me at that point. I had listened to Dopethrone and Come My Fanatics but there was just something missing (imho).

However, I recently discovered the "Mark II lineup" which has two full length albums and a split EP under their belt.

These guys & gal have managed to re-invent their sound...without really changing all that much. But for whatever reason, they are infinitely more fun to listen to now. I highly recommend checking out the album "Witchcult Today". The incredibly infectious song "Dunwich" is worth the price of admission alone.

The earlier release "We Live" is killer as well.

Fans of Black Sabbath and Hammer Films should love this.

Really good band...I have to be in the mood for them, though...

They are still my favorite modern doom band even though i think they have lost a bit of their edge over the years. Electric Wizard's S/T, Come My Fanatics and Dopethrone are still my favorite albums from them. Witchcult Today is their most assessable album by far, even though its still real heavy.

I recently picked up Witchcult Today, mostly based on detuned's recommendation. I dunno, somethings not clicking with me on this one. I'm not sure what it is, but it just kinda fades into the background when I listen to it. Not bad, but nothing that stands out either.

I'll be shelving this one for now 'cause I have lotsa other new music to go through at the moment but I'll come back to this one at a later date & see if anything sticks.
