PostSubject: Sour Grapes from the not-so-distant past...   Tue Apr 22, 2008 3:23 pm

I found this today when I Googled "Troglodyte Dawn". Apparently it is circa 2005 from http://omeedentezari.livejournal.com/ :

Quote:
"I'm pretty disappointed with the response to Erethe on the internet. Its pretty sad when unsigned christian doom metal bands are outshining you on a message board that should know better. Then again, shouldn't i have expected this? This one band in particular plays an insulting brand of christian doom: Troglodyte Dawn. It isn't insulting because its christian; its just talentless garbage and these guys have had at least 674 views to their latest post promoting their new gay t-shirts on the unsigned section of the doom-metal.com forum. I posted a link to the myspace artist page and we've had no more than 20-something views and one decent response. Meanwhile, this band of flaming underachievers have already taken in over 20 requests for t-shirts! I just don't understand..and listening to their music makes it even more confusing..Its basically a time-line in the life of a homosexual: it evolves from an infant rape scene into a ritual, 1970's San Franciscan orgy. I couldn't imagine a gayer tune being whistled by Richard Simmons."

Yikes! Somebody is pissed off because nobody would give them any attention! Shocked

Apparently it's from this guy:

http://www.iranian.com/main/music/erethe

I can't hear the music from work, but I'm interested to hear just how wonderful this stuff must be, given his scathing criticism of my stuff. Huh?

Well I can't think of a better way to brand yourself an amateur and entirely not worth anyone's time by pissing and moaning about someone else and trying to build yourself up by putting someone else down. I can't stand when people try to gain support by throwing pity parties

And I would love to see a picture of one of those gay shirts. The only TD shirts I have seen is the one I own and it is the cool eclipse logo one. Also I thought your cd was quite enjoyable.

I will have to listen later to this master of doom though as I am watching Sweeney Todd with my son

Hmmmm ... well for those of you who are wondering ... this guy's music is
half-decent. It's recorded surprisingly well considering (I'm assuming)
this is demo stuff. It's pretty bland though. A sort of non-specific
melding of traditional epic doom (aka Candlemass), traditional heavy
metal, and probably a touch of funeral doom with growly vocals. It's a
decent attempt at doom but it's not quite there yet. Not nearly heavy,
soulful, or creative enough to really satisfy the doom craving either.
I don't understand his assertion that his music is amazingly original
either ... because this EXACT sound has been done about 100,000 times
allready.

And despite that his music isn't all bad, I would definetely NOT listen
to this album (and especially pay for it) because there is nothing that
kills a music listening experience, regardless of musical quality, than
discovering that the artist him/herself has a bad/ungreatful/arrogant
attitude. [YNGWIE, I'M COMIN' FOR YOU!!]

Conclusion: TROGDOLYTE DAWN is 100% better than this guy's lame attempt
both in terms of creativity (one of TD's main strengths) and execution.

IMO, this guy's stuff is bad. The opening riff to "Sopor" is repetative until 1:30 into it. Then the big pay off is unintelligible growling over unimaginative chords. Yee-haw. I didn't even make it to the 2nd song. Yuck.

The only thing that sounds like doom to me is the slowed rhythm, but I do not possess a "doom ear".

Yeah, I listened to both his songs and honetly, the one you heard was
better, ie you didn't miss anything special. He's got a seripusly
inflated ego.

ok so I am an asshole but when I saw his sight all I could think of Flock of Seagulls

IRAN IRAN so far away....

If only this guy was half as original, creative and cool as he thinks... that would be something!
