one of mine is Cohhed & Cambria... no I don't shop at Hot Topic but my son does!
I just love the Geddy Lee like vocals and they can be really heavy at time and then mix it up with ear candy goodness... there you have it
What are some of yours?

Seriously, the end of the performance is what is killer... It is SO ROCK N ROLL
IMO that is everything that is missing from Rock today. Most bands, especially the gold/platinum kind, would never mess with "the single" especially on national tv. I miss the "they actually played" performance where there is passion and they just go for it! Cool I think

I too love Coheed & Cambria. Been accused of being liking "emo". Just sounds like good rock n roll to me.

I would add:
Phil Collins, especially Face Value. Good music for late nights with the wife...
Genesis, yup, all of it, even stuff like Abacab.
Peter Gabriel, especially the first four solo albums.
Keith Green. Way outside what I usually listen to but his music really speaks to me.
Run DMC. What can I say, I like some 80's rap. "Raising Hell" is a cool album, especially the Walk this Way cover.
S.F.C. see above comment
Public Enemy. see above.
Sevendust. Not a big fan of nu-metal, but I like these guys. "Seasons" and "Home" are my favorites.
Disturbed. another "nu" band I like.
Patsy Cline. What a voice!

Meat Loaf is a big (pun intended) fave of mine.
But he's still in the rock & roll genre.
I'll be brutally honest and you can let the heckling begin. I have a soft spot for female vocals so I'll add

I kind of like this song by Nelly Furtado. Don't even know the name (nor do I like it that much), but I guess it's a recent thing.
I also have a reversed guilty pleasure, which is to hate Queen. Like, everything about them. And everything they did. :p
