| Anyone know of these guys. Retroactive Records released a so called classic that is apparently for fans of Metallica and Megadeth (which I am). Any truth to that claim? | |

| Never heard of them. There was a prog (I believe) group in the 70's or 80's by the name of ELOY, but I don't think it's the same band. | |

| I have both cd's; "Degrees of Freedom" and "Mold" I like them a lot, there's some Metallica influence to thier sound, but by no means a clone. |

| Found this on the web: <LI>"ELOI, to say the least, are not your typical bible-toting messengers of God who have been graced with the ability to play guitars. ELOI rock with the intensity of some of the best-known metal alterna/metal acts out there today. This stuff rocks, plain and simple." "ELOI is a Christian band. The problem with Christian bands is they usually are more intent on pushing their beliefs down the listeners throat than making meaningful music. This Garland quartet, however, is a welcome exception to the rule. Vocalist Seth Poor, guitarist, Bryan Hilliard, bassist Stephen T. Smiley and drummer Jeff Gothard are a tight, talented prog metal band that happens to exude a positive message, and there's certainly nothing wrong with that.
I would use the term "prog" loosely, I would say more along the lines of grove metal. |

| I like ELOI. Once in awhile i'm in the mood for them. The METALLICA and MEGADETH comparison is not correct at all. ChildIS's statement about them being groove metal/groove core is much closer to the sound. Good schtuff. |

We were always getting the metallica reference. Some said due to my voice. I dont know. Im really bad at comparring things. When ever anyone asked what Eloi sounded like, i always said "Chicago." Or just gave them a cd. In the end, we were compared to metallica, C.O.C., tool, eternal decision, helmet, pantera (never really understood that one) and many more that i cant recall. strangely, never chicago. *sigh* -seth |

<LI> <LI>that was our first review. It was in a local dallas rag called the "harder beat. We had just played our 4th show and had opened up for Gaurdian. <LI> <LI>--seth
