| Stavesacrea are breaking up
From their bulletin
I'm sure you've all been wondering what is going on at the Stavesacre Foundation as of late. The fact of the matter is, Stavesacre as we know it, is done. There is no tragic "Behind the Music" story. We all love each other, and you, as much as we ever have. We just feel that after an incredible 11 year run, it is time to close this particular chapter in our rock and roll journey. You may be asking yourself "so what the heck have you guys been up to?" The answer is, trying to think of the best way to say "thank you" to all of you wonderful people that have been so good to us since the beginning. We have had countless conversations and have come up with a few ideas that we think will be the best bookend to our illustrious "career". Everything is in an extremely embryonic stage at this point, but here's the skinny: we will be writing and recording some new music with a very good friend of ours, Jeff Bellew. Jeff is obviously a huge part of the Stavesacre story and it just seems right to close the book with him back in the fold. We will also be compiling a career spanning DVD that will hopefully involve anyone who's had anything to do with our band. All of this will culminate in a handful of shows to say goodbye. The 5 of us are incredibly excited and can't wait for you to hear the rock. Sorry for the radio silence...more to come...
Oh well I guess it will be cool to hear/get the end stuff

| I only have Absolutes and have heard Friction, which seemed pretty cool. I saw them once live and it was pretty cool, however, I met Mark and he a had pretty arrogant and condescending attitude, and not just to me, but others as well. And no, it didn't really seem that he was "having a bad day" it came off more that he was like that all the time.. It was kinda of a bummer, but, oh well.. | |

| No Mark will even admit he has been a total asshole. If you ever get a chance you should try to read his book SIMPLICITY. It is fascinating and very insightful. I think he has worked through alot of that stuff. He seems more humble and at peace now.
If he could just get over it, cave in, and do the Crucified reunion.... But it will likely never happen

| Well, I'm not crying tears over Mr. Mark. I was just bummed that the dude was treating people like crap. You reap what you sow though.. Actually, I think he was trying to sell his book SIMPLICITY at that show.. He only has the one book right? I do remember that the book he was selling was on his own publishing label Skeleton Key. But for some reason I was thinking that was the name of the book as well.. So, if it was SIMPLICITY, well, he must have been having a relapse.. Does he talk about The Crucified in it? | |

| Well Mark is still a dick at times, but we all are
yeah what is great about the book is how the Crucified got started, the rise and fall, personal etbacks, what a tool he can be, horrors of the CCM Sindustry, finding grace, forming Stavesacre, more horror stories about promoters, retards, etc. Then why he took Stavesacre and split the christian scene.
It was a year or so after the book that he started to mellow out. Basically after Stav-e-say-ker album flopped

| I also saw them live, in Norway 5-6 years ago or something. Pretty intense. I liked most of the Friction album but in general I don't listen a lot to that kind of music. Good thing they're breaking up peacefully. | |

| Thanks to our resident Ghost, I bought a copy of the book - Jury duty begins Wednesday and I need some reading! I loved the Crucified and thought Stavesacre was ok... OK until they disrespected the Cure's " Fascination Street". That's too good a song to destroy like they did... So I am still holding a grudge | |

| Honestly, I am digging the book thus far. I was a music buyer for a chain of Christian music stores in the midwest for about 5 years and got to 'experience' the Christian industry in all of it's 'glory'. And when you sit and talk to other friends in the industry, you really see how ugly it is in there. At the time I was the buyer, all but one of the 'major' CCM labels/distributers was owned by a large 'secular' label (EMI, SONY, etc). Diamante was the only one that wasn't at the time... And it was the most maligned by Religious organizations (obviously due to it's catering to the rock and roll side of things). I can't tell you the times I sat with Jimmy and just listened to his tour stories... For the naive fan of the CCM market, these stories would break their hearts. But the key to me is that Jimmy, Mark, etc are people just like me or you. They have the same temptations, weaknesses, needs, desires, pains, loves... But they are put up on a pulpit in the CCM industry and quite frankly, they may not be up to it or even called to do it. I think it's hard for some Christian Music fans to accept a musician who is a Christian but not a 'minister'. Don't get me wrong, I understand that we are all ministers to some degree as emulators of Christ. I am referring to the expectation of some fans that because someone is a Believer and a musician, that he should be expected to carry most of the water. When, in fact, many fans out there listening may be more able to minister, listen, counsel, etc because of the gifts God has given them. A gift of song writing doesn't mean that one is ready or able to be the superman we may want them to be. On a smaller scale, I remember when I first started Sombrance... I had left an evangelical metal band (Grievance Honor) who had a reputation amongst regional promoters as a band that would preach the gospel at shows. But Sombrance was really just a band made up of four Christian guys who had an honest desire to make music together. I would share my faith as the Holy Spirit moved. But I didn't force anything like I did in GH. A lot of those CCM promoters did not want to book shows for what they thought was a band with lukewarm faith. The truth is that during the early Sombrance years, I was undergoing intense Spiritual growth and God was teaching me about real life in Him. I was in a much better place Spiritually and shared that quite a bit off stage or in my personal relationships. I think too often we as CCM fans put unfair pressure on individuals in 'Christian bands' to live up to expectations that maybe we ought to be considering for ourselves. Sorry to be so long - That just all fell out! | |

| Yeah, I agree. I think you should share the gospel when the RUACH HAKODESH (Holy Spirit) moves you. However, your actions are the most important and people pick up on those moreso.
That is one of the reasons 16 HORSEPOWER and WOVEN HAND are two of my favorite bands. David Eugene Edwards is a believer, but uses his music to 'preach', but his lyrics are so poetic as not to hit you over the head bluntly and turn people away. I think he is probably one the BEST believer songwriters ever (!) and he gets no repsect from the "christian industry". He's HUGE in Europe though and so he tours over there moreso.
I asked David one time, do you run into alot of believers in Europe and he said no. He runs into more believers here in the states. So, Maybe YAHWEH has him over there for a reason.. 8)
I have read reviews of European concerts where the people are speechless and at a loss for words describing what they FEEL during his shows. I believe it's the RUACH HAKODESH and they just don't know it. I know I felt it when I saw WOVEN HAND. I mean, Black Metal bands like MAYHEM are coming to his shows and are in awe ! David was telling me about it and I was just floored..
It crazy to listen to his music and then compare it to all the "christian" crap music that gets promoted on the radio, etc.
But it's always like that, the best bands in any genre are usually underground and out of the mainstream..

| And a big to everything that both of you said! Really, my attitude these days is that if my music is a "ministry" then God will have to handle the details of it. I'm just going to do what I do and leave the rest up to Him because everytime I try to "make it happen" things just get screwed up. I'm not even actively looking for musicians any longer for TD. If God wants this to be a live experience, then He will bring me the right people. Until then, I plan on just doing exactly what I've been doing all along - making music on my own and broadcasting it to the world via the internet. Anything beyond that is totally up to God. | |

| Im just getting to the point where I feel like just playing in a secular band. The whole Christian thing is getting stale. I just want to make some music and have some fun. If some one is touched by it, Great. I could go on a rant but I suppose it would just be a rehash of some of the stuff Rick and Jimmy talked about........ | |

| I hear you tink. We are not all that far apart in our thoughts on this matter. Although I'm starting to think that a live band is not going to be in the cards for me at all anymore. If I can really accept that, maybe I'll be able to finally move forward with new projects... | |

| IT is a fine line between realism and discouragement Hang in there guys but seek wisdom Personally I think the best ministry is all about being incarnational. A totally refreshing book is called THE CELTIC WAY OF EVANGELISM by George Hunter III. It has become one of my all time favs. Small book but very potent with excellent thoughts and observations. I think it was AW Tozer who said it is not what we do which determines whether a thing is sacred or secular it is WHY we do it Food for thought | |
