| Thursday evening - out riding with the wife & a friend of ours - first day with my new armored jacket, gloves & helmet. Hit a curve doing 20-25'ish, hit gravel, go down go boom. bruises on left elbow & shoulder (where I rode the pavement), hip, knee, and rivits on boots were bent closed. Jacket - has a couple marks on it, thats it. Helmet got a little bit of a rash. Bike - pretty good - hit the rear turn signal (still works), back shock, and knocked the handlebar end cap off (went back in). Overall - I'm just a bit sore - and other than the broken (and currently super-glued) left rear turn signal - not too much damage. Yup - pavement sliding sucks. The soreness is going away. Thanks to my gear - I'm alive, and no 'real' road rash. A bit of a scrape on my elbow - and that's about it. My glove was scrapped a bit, and the boots too. Oh - I did bend the peg back almost 90 degrees - we got it bent back to almost normal. Good ride on sunday! The local CMA had a small blessing of the bikes - and bbq. Rode for the first part for about an hour - then had to head home for a cousin's graduation. That was quite fun. . . | |

| - yup. Doing fine. Arm feeling better (it was the most hurt). Since we got our "M" endorsement, and our bike, we've logged around 700 miles - give or take. It's been less than a month. . . Yesterday I commuted to work - about an hour - and it was good. | |

| Had my first one on 11-10-10. Heading northbound in the suicide lane in rush hour traffic, a truck decided to pull right in front of me, so I had to lay it down. I remember nothing between striking the edge of the truck until I landed on my ass in the middle of the road. I shattered my left heel and bruised my knee significantly. Bike is totalled. I've had two surgeries in the last two months, one to reconstruct the heel and install a steel plate, the other to address two infections I picked up. Finally on the mend and making good progress as of this week, but I'm still on IV antibiotics to make sure the infection is good and gone. | |

| That is terrible! That really sucks!! I am sorry for you. In a flash everything goes from bliss to disaster.
I learned in Driver's School (punishment for disobeying the traffic laws) that even the finest cyclist will EVENTUALLY become the victim of another motorist (usually a non-bike).
I hope that you will heal completely both physically and spiritually. This was not a calculated act by the driver of the truck.
