| One of my favorites in the Doom/Stoner genre. I first heard The Ethreal Mirror and was pretty much hooked from the get go. I went out bought Statik Majik and totally got into that groove thing they had going. I like the classic doom stuff they released as well on the first two albums but something about albums like Supernatural Birth Machine, Caravan Beyond Redemption that really bring it on with that 70's heavy sludge rock.....tis massive!!
Now I havent heard the new one yet.......I dont know why......I need to get it. Any other fans here?

| I like Forest Of Equilibrium alot. That was the first one I heard when it came out. Ethereal Mirror is great as well..
I think my favorite one one after those two is..
ENDTYME !
Kind of a return back to the slow as molasses groove..

| You know, as odd as it may seem, I've never really cared for them all that much. The only stuff I've heard that I liked was a few cuts off of the Hopkins EP. | |

| I think they are kind of an aquired taste in some respects. I think it might have to do with Lee Dorians vocals. They are very unique and his delivery is different. | |

| Yeah, I think you're right. His vocals REALLY bug me. I won't listen to them long enough to acquire the taste, I guess. I have the few songs I dig and that's cool with me. | |

It's the first one I heard and I think it's still my favorite. A couple of the albums I have not heard yet so that could change though.

| I picked up a used copy of the Hopkins EP this week. That, in addition to the few Sabbath covers they did is all I need! | |

| As a six years old doom metal fan and having more than 300 doom record, I have to admit that my all time favorite album is Forest of Equilibrium. I think by this killer album, Cathedral innovated a new wave in doom. I've said tons of stuff about how great this album is and how Cathedral disappointed me by turning into a stoner/groove sound, so i think this summary is enough for me. | |

| Awesome band, and if you guys haven't picked up The Garden of Unearthly Delights yet, you really should... one of my favorites of 2006 (although released in Europe at the end of '05, but whatever). If you like Endtyme and The VIIth Coming I think you'll dig it, it's a great continuation of the sound on those two albums, sort of mixing the slow-as-molasses sound of the early albums and the stoner/groove sound of later works. | |

Yeah, I actually liked both VIIth Coming and "The Garden...". I don't have Endtyme yet ... I'm sure I'll pick it up someday, though. For now I've got 5 or 6 Cathedral albums, though. Plenty for me, considering I'm not a HUGE fan ... but I like the band quite a bit. Wanna know something cool? I picked up my copy of VIIth Coming used ... for the standard used price of 7.99 or something. I was psyched to pick that up along with The Garden on the same day a while back, but when I got home and opened up the album booklet, I was stunned to see that the inside of the booklet was SIGNED BY THE WHOLE BAND!!! I'll have to post pics of it some time. I was PSYCHED when I saw that!!

First of all ... who gets their album signed and then sells it ... and who sells it to a USED store rather than roping a bunch o' money from some obsessive fan?? Hah.

| I was very fortunate to have seen them back in 93 and along the way to have acquired one of the coolest, most unique metal collectibles I have ever seen..it is a mirror with a female figure on it and the words "The Ethereal Mirror" printed on it, wild huh? | |

| Just -ing up this old thread to point out that CATHEDRAL has provoked two "hot" threads here in the Doom Room... It's funny, they strike me as a bit of a "love 'em or hate 'em" kind of band (I'm in the former camp), but they always seem to provoke a reaction/opinion amongst the doom crowd... | |
