You know Trog...there was a magazine I read back in late '91 or early '92, after Frontline released 'Sacrificium', called 'The Fifth Path' which featured a side-by-side comparison of 'Sacrificium' and Danzig's 'Lucifuge'! It was pretty awesome! Of course, the comparisons were kind of obvious, but the reviewer loved the album, but also said he would never enter a Christian bookstore to purchase 'Sacrificium'! He would purchase it otherwise! The artical was really interesting though! Take care, Mike

That's really cool. I'd love to read that if you ever see it again. I was a big Danzig fan back when Lucifuge came out shortly before I became a Christian, and I really liked his debut A LOT (still do). Some of the content on Lucifuge kind of bit me in the ass spiritually though, because I went through some really scary experiences during that time and a lot of it got associated with that album. So, for years, I wouldn't touch Danzig's stuff and I just sort of forgot about him. But then in 1994 or so, someone I worked with turned me on to Sacrificium because they knew I liked Sabbath, but wasn't listening to them at the time. They didnt' tell me that Randy's voice was a dead ringer for Glenn's though! I was TOTALLY into the album because it filled a huge void in my life since I had given up the Danzig stuff I liked - plus, the guy's name was Randy too! Personally, I heard it as a mirror image of the first Danzig album, but I can see the similarities with the second one too. Anyway, it really blessed me at the time and it is still a favorite of mine. I can listen now to the early Danzig stuff and even a few cuts from that second album, but the Sacrificium album was the first and only time I've truly experienced a Christian artist that was able to substitute for a secular artist that I had walked away from (at the time) and I was completely satisfied with it. It was really cool and I played that album over and over tons of times that first year I got it. You didn't play on that one, did you?

Randy....that is really cool!!!! Randy Rose's voice was compared to Jim Morrison and of course Glenn Danzig quite often back then! I'm glad that 'Sacrificium' filled an empty hole for you! Also, on the song 'Sacrificium', the rain that you hear is actually taken from The Doors 'Riders On The Storm'! We had recorded 'Break On Through' for 'Healing' but Ray Manzarek said we can't change the lyrics....so we decided to not put the song on the CD. ...and no I didn't play on 'Sacrificium'! Almost did though as Randy wanted me to re-track the bass after I joined the band, but Frontline was already pressing the CD... Take care, Mike

What was the touring like with Rose. I always understood that neither MATW or Rose toured much and rarely played outside of SoCal... I know Roger was a postal worker but what was Randy's excuse?

Take care, Mike | Hey Mike, were you with the band in 95, and do you happen to remember playing a show at the Salvation Army gym near Dallas? I will never forget that show because Mad had a problem with an amp and borrowed mine and I believe it was Roger that played through it.Some of the details are a little sketchy after all these years. If I remember right we sat around for a while talking to Randy and Steve.I thought that thunder sounded familiar !I am a big fan of Morrison's voice(almost have to be since his is the closest of all the rockers to my natural singing voice) and the Doors music.Great to have you here,I wondered what happened to the Break On Through cover, after a while I had started to think, hey maybe I just dreamed it.Totally dug all the heavy Rose material. Was blessed to have seen Mad two times before but having Rose along made for an excellent experience, there are a lot of us here that wish Randy would do a heavy project again ! |

Yeah Steve...I totally remember the Salvation Army gig in '95!!! Very awesome of you to lend Roger your amp!!! Yes...I had my laptop stolen and I was pretty bummed about that! The more that time passed by, the more I forgot about coming here...so sorry!!! I have a pretty decent laptop now...but not as good as my last.... It's killer to see 'The Cave' doing so well! Rock on you guys!!! I've been so busy recording for a few different projects and trying to balance a couple different bands...but I'll be coming back more often again!!! The Cave rules!!!
