The only doom band to ever appear on a (then) primarily punk label, SST. Their loose, simple style and lo-fi production sensibilities would have been punk if only it was played faster!



Dave Chandler's "who gives a sh*t" style of guitar playing with his noise laden solos fit well within the punk genre.





But when they covered BLACK FLAG's "Thirsty and Miserable" they really let their punk roots show.



The first s/t album up through Born Too Late and the Thirsty and Miserable EP kept to this punk ideal of lo-fi, rawness, simplicity and accessibility.









After these releases they began to move more in a strictly doom-metal direction. The addition of Scott Weinrich on vocals and guitar from Born Too Late through the V album added another dimension to their sound.







Not that they became polished by any means, but they did evolve beyond what they were in the early years and moved from SST to Hellhound. The rest is history.

And here I thought the answer going to be STUNK or POOM!

8) Ok...i guess there's one Punk crossed over with Doom band missing: THE OBSESSED!!

Their second Demo with Vance Bockus on vocals is totally Punk!!!

Also i must say that the early stage of BLIND LEGION (pre-Lost Breed) was also kinda Punk but no Doom. Years after changing the name to Lost Breed and influenced by Obsessed and Saint Vitus, they recorded a demo with Wino and later did an album on the mythical label Hellhound records.

I would have said The Obsessed but the link between St Vitus and The Obsessed is obvious!
