Chris Rice Peace Like A River: The Hymns Project

Im spinning this cd today and Im glad I did. I like Chris Rice he has a nice combo of folk and contemporary rock. His versions of his favorite hymns as a kid are very well arranged. All of these are arranged basically like the way they are sung from the old hymn books but Rice has tweaked them to work well with acoustic guitar and of course piano. A very very uplifting, praising and relaxing cd. Totally recommended for those times when you are not at peace and you really need to hear God's love in song to help give you that peace. Believe me there are moments on this disc where you just wish you had a aisle to walk and an altar to bow down to while listening.

Tracks:

It Is Well With My Soul
Rock Of Ages
O Freedom
A Mighty Fortress
Come Thou Fountain of Every Blessing
O Love That Will Not Let Me Go
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Old Rugged Cross
How Great Thou Art
Before The Throne

Yep same guy and the same guy that did "Untitled Hymn (Come To Jesus)" which is another one of those fall to your knees and cry your eyes out to God type of songs.

I always been told by our pastor that this kind of music ain't pleasin' to the Lord because it's so stupid that He gets embarassed by it. I don't listen to none of this stuff because I don't want to embarass the Lord. I just listen to the music my pastor says is good in church and the music me and my twin brothers are gonna make in our band sometimes.

Been really getting into Paul Baloche lately. Had to learn a couple of songs on guitar for church. Really good stuff.
