Spinning this today. This album has really started to become one of my favorite Ozzy era Sabbath albums. There is much growth on these tracks. The songwriting is top notch and for me really showed what Iommi and Butler could do sonically.

You'll get no argument from me. A happy 'no'

I love this album. In fact, I just picked up a vinyl copy yesterday with the old green WB label and the gatefold booklet intact. Troggish

Ahhhh I have one of those too Trog!

Back around 90/91 I was at a record show at a local hotel. I came across a russian printing of the first Sabbath album. It had a totally different cover. I didnt buy it.....and I still to this day kick myself for not buying it!

I also used to have this...

It was a box set put out on that dutch label that released almost all the Ozzy era stuff. It had the first album up to Live At Last......dumb me sold that too.....made a killing off of it but still a dumb move on my part.

Volume 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and Sabotage were the band peaking with Ozzy at the mic. I personally hold SBS above V4.

Those three are brilliant LPs! Yeah I would say they peaked at those albums.

I would rank them as such:

Paranoid
Black Sabbath
Sabotage
Masters of Reality
Volume 4
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Never Say Die
Technical Ecstacy

That is not to say I like them all more than other eras, that is just my rundown of the Ozzy era!

Don't like Never Say Die or Technical Ecstasy? I think they're both
really good, especially Never Say Die. NSD is such a unique album when
stacked next to their early stuff (which was also unique of course).

I like that Ozzy Sabbath never ceased to evolve. Each one of the first
8 Sabbath albums really does have a unique sound to it, which is why
they're all so good!

...wonder how many times I can use the word unique in one post ... Huh?

Actually I love Never Say Die and Technical Ecstasy, but something had to be at the bottom and I don't think those 2 were as solid as the others!

Side 1 of NSD is a masterpiece, but side 2 was a little lacking!

All Moving Parts (Stand Still) is one of my all-time fav Sab songs, but TE was not as consistant as other releases!

Anyhow it's JMO!
