OK, so...in Ashen Mortality Ian sings w/ growls...does he do mostly clean singing in MSW?

Ahhh I haven't heard the new disc yet so I am not certain

On the debut it is a healthy mix of both. On Century Sleeper there is very little growling

Ha ha, indeed! I sing mostly growls with MSW, but due to the nature of the new album having a lot of acoustic songs, I reckon it's half and half at least, if not slightly more clean.

In CS it is mainly clean as mentioned.

TOW is a band I play in but is not my project, it is the project of Alan Southorn, who also plays in MSW. I play guitar in this band and have done a few vocals, but this is mainly Alan's job.

Yeah, I've always maintained that MSW vox are pretty much half and half in the growl/clean mix. Ian is actually singlehandedly responsible for causing me to acquire a taste for growly death-type vox! Prior to hearing MSW, I despised that vocal style. But Ian does it so well (read my lips: a-nun-ci-ate!), that he has made a believer outta me! AMEN!

Cheers matey! I also hate some death vocals. I think that growling can be brilliant but sometimes it is just a monotone grating noise. I think it is like normal vocals, in that there is a huge range of sounds you can make and some vocalists suit your taste and others just don't.

Yes, exactly. I like to be able to hear something semi-intelligible or else I'm not really interested. Unless the words are purposely just "phonetic arrangements" and not actual words that is. But death vox as phonetic arrangements would still probably not be my cup of meat either... YUCK!

I finally got the new one. Melancholy indeed. It is making me very happy. Jaw dropping doom inspired music to lift my soul. This really should be huge.
