Cool, detuned... ORANGE GOBLIN is yet another band on my "must check out soon" list, and actually has been for awhile. Any recommendations on a good album to start with? (...after I pick up Welcome to Sky Valley, of course! ) Tonight while folding laundry: THE OBSESSED - Lunar Womb (Such a great album... "Hiding Mask" in particular just blows me away...)

Time Traveling Blues is my personal favorite, but any of the first three are essential in my opinion. Their most recent, Healing Through Fire is also a great record. Frequencies From Planet Ten is the most progressive/psychedelic, Time Traveling Blues is almost a tribute album to all their influences. The Big Black is one of the most potent and the tightest album, it also owes alot to Kyuss as some songs and even guitar solos are very similar to the Josh Homme mode. The thing that most people don't "get" about Orange Goblin...is that they are FUN! They don't take themselves too seriously and thus sound natural.

Thanks for the lowdown on ORANGE GOBLIN, detuned! Yesterday I was in a bit of a depressive mode, so I went with the mournful death-doom of: PARAMAECIUM - Exhumed of the EarthPARAMAECIUM - Echoes from the Ground
