Great band from the 70's. Dual lead guitars and semi-prog arrangements combined with an excellent sense of melody made these guys a force to be reckoned with. I just picked up Wishbone Four today, which rounds out my collection of their early classics: Wishbone Ash (1970) Pilgrimage (1971) Argus (1972) Wishbone Four (1973) Any other fans?

Dood, if you've never heard Argus, you simply MUST. That one is essential.

Hey Acid, if you like Argus, you'll probably like the 2 before ( Wishbone Ash & Pilgrimage) and the one after it ( Wishbone Four) also!

I have and love Pilgrimage more than Argus. Also i have number the brave from 1981 which is their nwobhm attempt in fact a cross between nwobhm and aor, but very good songwriting, brilliant in fact!

S/T & Argus are classics. For some harder jamming check out "Just Testing" from 1979 or so. (From the description of "Brave" above, it sounds similarly NWOBHM influenced. Almost Vardis-like). And for people that like their twin guitar alchemy a bit heavier, I can't recommend the band Epitaph enough. Epitaph is one on my top 20 bands ever.

Anyone else heard First Light? Apparently it's the first recording sessions of Wishbone Ash, done in early 1970 and then shelved by the label because the songs didn't sound "polished" enough. Anyway, I picked it up recently and it's a fantastic collection of songs. It's my first exposure to Wishbone Ash, so I can't really comment on how it compares to their other recordings, but by Troggy's description of their first 4 albums, I'd say it's along those lines. Twin leads, brilliant sense of melody, catchy songwriting, and all-around excellent musicianship.

Picked up Number the Brave on vinyl tonight. I'll comment after I give it a listen. I also saw Just Testing tonight, but I forgot that it was recommended here, so I'll have to grab it later.
