| What took so long to get here? haha Just curious, when you reflect on Ashen Mortality do you feel like you accomplished what you wanted to with that project? Were there unexplored avenues, unrealized goals, etc? Did you get to play out live? How was the band received internationally? |

Sorry Tim, didn't realise I had a response til today. Yes we did play live fairly regularly up until the last few years. We got to play with some great bands. We even played with At The Gates. The band had a good response internationally and things were pretty good, especially at the start. The first album is a disappointment to me in many ways as it could have been so much better. the songs on that album were great live, but the album (which was really demo recordings tarted up) didn't really capture that. I am still happy with Your Caress though, and still find it amazing that we managed to record and mix it in 3 days. |

| Well thanks Ian. I can appreciate the difference between a live dynamic and recorded. I had a taste of that myself. Did you build the songs around a riff, or did you have an idea or more elaborate section worked out and developed it from there? I am just curious because sometimes I hear ideas and try to write to that and others start out as riffs or little things and just develop and evolve. Especially after playing them live I hear things to add etc. I was just curious what the process was like and if writing the Ashen Mortality material was any different than any of your other projects (which all seem great to these ears) |

No, the writing for all the bands is the same really. I write music or lyrics first. It works well either way. I tend to only have a song ready for playing live when it is finished, so they normally stay the same after this point. Some songs get improved over time, but they are normally ones that are a long time in the waiting stage, like a lot of the songs from MSW SoS. |

| Both of the original SA albums have been re-issued on CD, right Ian? Weren't they limited to like 1000 copies or something like that? Have they pretty much sold out at this point? I have all the SA stuff, including the cool live & demos CD release! |

| So far I like everything I've heard from you. It's like a progression of my musical tastes yet never leaving one behind. I actually like the first AM a lot. Sort of a raw garage feel that I find pretty cool. |

Thanks a lot. That first album was recorded on an extremely tight budget. The engineer is sifting through the original multitracks of this album at present and has promised me a cd of the separate recorded tracks to use for a future re-mix. Could be interesting. I actually saw him at the Trouble gig in wolverhampton last night as he works in the venue where they played-quite bizarre. |
